PEACE campaigners in Trowbridge may form a permanent group after a series of peace vigils against the bombing in Afghanistan gained good support.
The Trowbridge Ad Hoc Peace Group was formed four weeks ago to give people the opportunity to protest peacefully.
Peggy Thomas, spokesperson for the group, said: "We said we would go on until the bombing stops, it looks like that has happened, but I am only one of 20 people. We may carry on if ground troops are deployed.
"We will decide the next step on Saturday. There are lots of other things people are against, like the arms trade. It could be that a permanent peace group comes out of this."
The group held its fourth vigil in Trowbridge on Saturday. People of all ages have been getting together in Fore Street between 11am and noon.
Mrs Thomas said: "The main aim was to put forward a different idea about how to respond to a crisis. We thought there could have been a better way to respond to what happened in New York than bombing people.
"We have been very pleased with the support we got. People were very grateful and pleased we were holding the vigil."
l To find out more, meet Mrs Thomas in Fore Street between 11am and noon tomorrow.
