CHILDREN are being taught how to keep fit for life in an initiative to combat sedentary modern lifestyles.
The scheme, called FitBase, is being run by Swindon Services' lifestyle development team and is open to children aged between five and 10.
The fitness classes use exercise and games formats so that children experience a fitness-based workout which allows for personal achievement and promotes self-esteem and confidence.
Spokeswoman Helen Barnes said: "FitBase is a fun and exciting junior fitness class which has been created to address issues concerning the fitness level of children."
FitBase classes take place at several venues around the town and are suitable for all levels of ability.
