CHRISTMAS cheer and goodwill came early to a Swindon nursery as children helped collect nearly 100 gift boxes for charity.
Staff at Poplars Day Care Nursery, in Lower Wanborough, showed off their collection of 95 boxes for Operation Christmas Child.
The care centre joins dozens of other schools and nurseries in the town donating to the appeal, which sends off boxes of toys to some of the world's poorest children.
Deputy manager Caroline Musty said the children had responded amazingly to the charity appeal.
She said: "We collected nearly one box from every child.
"I never expected the response to be like this.
"Younger children were coming in all excited about the presents in the boxes.
"Some have put messages and photos in the boxes, hopefully some will get a response."
The boxes were scheduled to be collected from the nursery today
