THE SALVATION Army is launching an appeal in Swindon asking people to take off their boots and make a difference before Christmas by donating footwear.

The charity is teaming up with clothing and footwear manufacturer Timberland.

Customers at the store in Swindon's Designer Outlet Village are being asked to bring in their used but wearable shoes.

They will then be passed on to the local Salvation Army and offered to people through its centres.

The Salvation Army provides over 3,000 beds a night in the UK for men and women in need of accommodation.

Timberland's director of factory outlets for Europe, Alison Middleton, said: "At Timberland, we believe in pulling on our boots and making a difference."
