SUPERBIKE hero Colin Edwards showed his championship qualities when he met up with a group of Swindon motorsport fans.
The 2000 World Superbike Champion spent four hours wowing bike-mad teenagers from Commonweal and Churchfield Schools at the Castrol HQ in Pipers Way.
Also succumbing to Edwards' star qualities were Castrol staff and workers from Nationwide, one of a group of other local firms invited to the event this week.
Edwards, who rides for the Castrol-Honda team, spent hours answering questions and signing around 200 individually dedicated posters for fans young and old.
"We had two very excited groups of schoolchildren," said Castrol sponsorship advisor, John Bristow.
"There was tremendous enthusiasm about coming to meet him not only from the schools, but also from our staff and other visitors."
Edwards finished as runner-up behind the Infostrada team's Troy Bayliss in this year's Superbike championship, but Mr Bristow said the Castrol-Honda team was hoping to finish one place better in this year's competition. But Edwards was not the only born competitor at the Castrol event, as all 30 of the 12 and 13-year-old students invited had won a school competition for their tickets.
