SWINDONIANS have always been noted for their warmth and generosity as shown by the success of innumerable campaigns and appeals over the years.
So we have every confidence that this year's Christmas Appeal, launched in conjunction with Swindon Rotary Club, will again be a success.
And your toys or if you prefer money WILL make a difference, a difference to a great many children.
In a town like Swindon, which despite recent setbacks, is still relatively affluent, it is easy to forget there are many youngsters for whom Christmas is not a time of joy and wonderment.
And for schools like the Chalet School, which caters for children who would otherwise be in a hospital ward, and Brimble Hill Special School, your Christmas gift is so important
As Mary Topping, head at the Chalet School said: "Just to see the look in their eyes is tremendous. For those who aren't as privileged a special present at Christmas makes a big difference."
It is the same for many others, such as The Women's refuge, a sanctuary for battered mothers and their children, and the Otters group; for youngsters with disabilities.
So please, be as generous as you can and let's see if this year we can make it an even better appeal.
