Hartlepool United boss Chris Turner felt his lowly Division 3 side had been unfortunate to go out at the first hurdle after a gallant battle.
He said: " I felt we had a mad one minute when they got the penalty and then a second goal.
"In the second half I thought we were well in control and played well.
"On another day we might have had four goals.
"We've hit the bar more than once and had other efforts go wide.
"It would have been easy for our lads to capitulate at 2-0 or 3-1 but they played well and worked hard.
"At the end of the day, you just have to hold your hands up and say we made a couple of mistakes that proved costly."
