A TAXI driver needed hospital treatment after a dispute with another motorist turned violent.
The 34-year-old man was driving his taxi along London Street when he became embroiled in an argument with a man who was driving a red Jaguar.
The cabbie was hurt during the incident, which happened at 2.30pm on Friday, and was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital with neck and head injuries. He spent several hours there before being discharged late that night.
A 53-year-old man was arrested at the scene of the attack and was taken to Westlea Police Station.
He was later released on police bail pending further inquiries.
Police are keen to speak to any witnesses, particularly the driver of a white E-registered Vauxhall Nova 1200 that had a 'for sale' sign in its window, who is believed to have driven past at the time of the incident.
To help inquiries call police on Swindon 528111. Alter-natively call Wiltshire Crime-stoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555111.
