Oh dear the Tories cannot afford to subsidise public services and want to up the Council Tax after placing the economy in jeopardy at the budget debate earlier this year.
What a surprise!
R N Derbyshire refers to traffic problems yet likes the demise of the park and ride! Some initiative is required in Swindon to use the Road Traffic Act to decriminalise parking offences.
The council could then appoint wardens and impose fines which could be used, as in the major London boroughs, to provide an income which would fund park and ride. Old Town would also benefit as Wood Street and High Street would then revert to the pre-anarchical state and allow for the re-introduction of bus services which have deprived the disadvantaged of public transport in this important area.
