CYCLING on the pavement is a very dangerous thing to do, especially for the pedestrian of any age.
This practice is getting worse due to the total lack of enforcement by the police and the attitude of the council and the cycling bodies attached to the council, who appear to encourage this very dangerous practice.
They say the roads of Swindon are very dangerous.
They should have had to ride their bikes in the City of London in the 1950s.
I did just that five days a week and the traffic was a lot worse than it is in Swindon today.
What is needed is proper training on how to ride safely and maintain bikes.
Most importantly cyclists should learn the Highway Code and have lights on the bike.
It is still an offence to ride your bike on the pavement, which if imposed is subject to a £500 fine.
Motorists have to obey the law so why don't cyclists?
Children should learn, as we did in school, how to ride and obey the highway code.
I believe the law should be upheld by cyclists as well as all other groups of people.
