THIEVES ransacked a 92-year-old woman's house and stole £3,000-worth of property.
Police say the victim was so shaken that she may now have to leave her home.
The woman arrived at her home in Swindon's Marlborough Road to discover the floors strewn with papers and other items.
Cash, antique silverware, an antique necklace and watch and Spanish and Austrian currency had been taken.
Swindon police spokeswoman Alvina Kumar said: "The elderly victim was so badly shaken by the burglary that she may now have to leave her home to reside in sheltered accommodation.
"She was very distressed and totally devastated at the loss, particularly the antique items of silverware and jewellery."
The burglary is thought to have happened between 6.30pm and 7.45pm on Wednesday, November 7.
