SCHOOL and college performance tables will be published tomorrow on the day the Government's Education Secretary Estelle Morris comes to Swindon.
The figures will show that the Government has already met its national target of having half of all 16-year-olds gain five GCSEs at grade C or above by 2002.
The average pass rate for the country this summer was the round figure of 50 per cent.
It would take a huge effort for Swindon schools to match that with an average pass rate of just 44.1 per cent last year.
This year's tables are expected to show a mixed bag of highs and lows for the town and will be detailed in full in the Adver tomorrow.
Ms Morris is due to visit the town tomorrow for the Local Government Association autumn conference, which was starting today at the Hilton Hotel.
It will see the country's education experts and political bigwigs voice their opinions on the theme of developing best practice in education.
