I TOOK my father-in-law to the Remembrance Day service at the Town Hall.

He was in a wheelchair, as were others, and when I asked the best place for him to see was directed to the back behind the other war veterans who could stand.

My father-in-law and others in wheelchairs, and also some who had trouble standing, could not see or hear what was going on.

The put their fine clothes and medals on to wear with pride and remember their chums who died but, in my eyes, were treated badly.

Maybe next year an area could be made in the front for all wheelchair users and maybe a few chairs for the elderly who find it hard to stand for long.

Then they could see and feel part of the remembrance services.
