WEST End Wanderers remain in pole position in Division Two of the Vanitec Computers sponsored league, but they had to come from behind against local rivals Miller Sports to do so.

John Knight gave the Sports the lead just before the break before goals in the final 15 minutes from Martin Salter and Tom Staddon earned Wanderers two valuable points in their quest for promotion.

Terry's FC maintained their 100 per cent record with a 3-0 away win over Old Lane United. Goals midway through the first half from Dean Gumm (2) and Dominic Gorton, both on their return from injury, eased Terry's home.

Old Lane's Marcus Young was a constant threat to Terry's, hitting the post and going close on a number of occasions.

Potley United and Pig and Whistle United settled for a point a piece after a 1-1 dra., Steve Healy gave Potley the lead on 10 minutes before Mark Bridger grabbed the equaliser two minutes from time.

Westbridge United are a point behind the leaders after their 8-2 win over Trowbridge Town Colts.

Premier Division

PILOT FC clinched their first ever victory over local rivals Cooper-Avon Rangers, having lost their previous four matches against the league's leading side. Pilot broke the hoodoo with a 2-0 win.

Malmesbury Town left it late before earning a 4-3 win over the Packhorse. Malmesbury had been given a 3-2 advantage with goals from Anthony Vizard, Richard Skull and Gavin Thompson, before Pete Humphrey dragged Packhorse into the game before completing a hat-trick when he slotted home a last minute penalty to make it 3-3. This looked to have earned his side a share of the points until Stuart Wright hit Malmesbury's winner in the dying seconds.

After four consecutive 2-2 draws between Box Rovers and Westbury Rangers A, Rovers finally gained the upper hand over a struggling Rangers side with a crushing 7-0 victory. Jamie Rowe (3), Tom Smith (2), Jamie Harrison and Rob White netted for Rovers, who are now finding the form that saw them go unbeaten all last season.

Corsham FC took a 1-0 lead against Melksham Motor Spares through Malcolm King which they held until 15 minutes from time when Merv Cox crashed home a superb volley from 15 yards which looked to be enough to earn his side a valuable point in their fight to get away from the relegation zone. Corsham had other ideas but left it until injury time to snatch a winner by Simon Young.

Dog and Fox Ashley overcame Corsham Centre United with a 3-2 victory. Steve Roddy's and Mike Holborne's goals for the Fox were cancelled out by efforts from Frank Rogers and Steve Curtis. Roddy then added his second of the match to seal the Fox's win 20 minutes from time.

Division One

MAUD Heath Sports remain unbeaten but were made to fight hard by a determined Gladstone Liberal Club side before claiming both points with a 2-1 win.

Andy Beal and Ian Townsend hit first half goals for Sports before Jason Prades struck early in the second period for the Libs.

Bromham's 55-year-old manager Phil Rose was forced into playing the whole 90 minutes against second placed Hullavington and was unable to stop his side from losing 2-0, with both goals coming from Craig Samuels.

Chippenham Police gained revenge for their opening day defeat by Colerne A by beating the visitors 3-2 in a closely fought game.

The Police took the lead with a Jason Roberts' header and were unlucky not to extend their lead when Julian Kirby hit the post from the penalty spot and Andy Beaven rattled the cross bar with a terrific 25 yard drive.

The Police doubled their lead in the second half when Kirby made amends for his earlier penalty miss when he finished well after collecting a ball that was knocked over Colerne's defence. Colerne kept plugging away and were rewarded for their persistence when Jamie Bowler clawed one back from the penalty spot and with time running out Ben Moore levelled the score.

The Police looked on course to record their fifth draw of the season but with virtually the last kick of the game 40-year-old Tim Culling forced the ball over the line to secure the Police their 3-2 win.

All Cannings and West Lavington shared the honours in a 1-1 draw. Lavington's Simon Drewitt gave his side a first half lead when he slotted home from the penalty spot. All Cannings' equaliser came from a stunning 25 yard free kick from Stuart Bevan on the stroke of full time.

Atworth United led 2-0 against the George Lacock before the visitors staged a fight back to snatch a 3-2 victory. Steve Vince opened the scoring for United and Stuart Holland doubled their lead when he volleyed home a screamer from 18 yards. The George found a way back into the game through a hotly disputed penalty which was calmly converted by Andy Carpenter. Les Davies squared things before Rob Swann glided in with the winner late in the game.

Division Three

NORTH Star B bounced back after last week's mauling at the hands of Semington Rovers to inflict a first defeat of the season on Farmhouse FC.

Shane King (2) and Trevor York, with his third own goal of the season, earned the Star a 3-1 win, Lee Hayward scoring Farmhouse's consolation.

Star goalkeeper Richard Ellis was outstanding.

A Dave Walker penalty was Rowde's only consolation as they lost 6-1 to leaders Chippenham Black Horse. Darren Whiston (3), Jonathan Wall, with his first goal of the season, and two from 47-year-old Dave Small, who was playing his last game for the Horse, completed their half dozen.

Four goals from Lee Scutter and Dean Fry's solo effort ensured that AFC Unicorn stay in touch with the leading pack after the Melksham side returned to winning ways by defeating Corsham Park Rangers 5-2. Martin Perrett sored both goals for Rangers, one from the penalty spot.

Hare and Hounds and Sir Audley Arms were involved in a seve goal thriller, with the Hounds running out 4-3 winners. Paul Revenning, Lee Sanders and Jamie Basey gave the Hounds a 3-1 advantage before Keiron Smith, Wayne Burry and Luke Whiting, with his first goal of the season, dragged the Arms level. Stuart Shipway then missed a penalty for the Arms before Mark Halfon snatched the Hounds' winner 10 minutes from time.

Semington Rovers recovered from a 2-0 deficit against Christian Malford to keep their unbeaten record intact with a 6-3 win. Bobby Mitchell (2), Martin Bray, Ian White, Stuart Barber and an own goal cancelled out a Steve Evans' hat trick.

Division Four

KING Alfred recorded their first win of the season with a convincing 5-1 victory over Westbury Rangers B.

Simon Cook (2), Jason Cole, Neil Clark and Lee Tatum scored in the five-star performance and Rangers replied through Steve Wyatt.

White Horse FC look to have finally got their season on the right tracks as a 6-0 win over KSM saw them move well away from the bottom two. Paul Phelps missed a penalty for the Horse before going on to bag a hat-trick. Steve Tucker, Wayne Burnell and Chris Sims completed the scoring.

Blue Circle Saints moved up to second spot by defeating leaders Somerford FC 6-1. Wayne Wheeler led the scoring with four goals and Wayne Bristow and Dan Dew added the others. Richard Chandler netted Somerford's consolation.

Bradstone Rovers were 3-1 up against Old Road Tavern, thanks to goals from John Bowman (2) and Scott Wood before Tavern hit back to record a 4-3 win. Ian Ball fired Tavern's first from 20 yards, Gavin Aplin made it 3-2 with a free kick that went in off the underside of the bar and Jerry Clark then headed Tavern level before Ball scored his second when he bundled the ball home in the last few minutes to earn his side a deserved win.
