A 10-YEAR-OLD Calne schoolgirl is polishing up on her royal etiquette for the second time this year.
Danielle Freeman, of London Road, a pupil at St Dunstan's School, is be one of the young stars during next month's royal visit.
She will present the Queen with a bouquet of flowers on December 7.
But Danielle has had to wait months for the royal occasion. She had been due to present the posy in March, the date originally set for the visit.
But the royal tour had to be cancelled because of the foot and mouth outbreak.
Danielle's father, John, said the whole family was very proud, but because of the postponement he had been forced to dig a bit deeper into his pocket for a second outfit suitable for meeting the Queen.
"Danielle has grown slightly since the beginning of the year, so we had to return the first outfit," Mr Freeman said.
"She will be getting a new one."
The arrangements for December 7 have not been finalised but Danielle knows she will be at the town hall with local dignitaries to meet the Queen while her school friends will be cheering the royal procession on the streets.
Head teacher Mary Smith said: "We are thrilled Danielle has been chosen to present the posy. She has been waiting a long time and it was desperately disappointing when the visit was cancelled."
Danielle had to write a short account of why she would like to present a posy to the Queen. Her entry was selected out of hundreds.
People in Chippenham are hoping the royal visit will be blessed by good weather because it is expected the Queen and Prince Phillip will walk in Chippenham High Street to the town hall where the Queen will sign a visitor's book.
Spokesman for the Lord Lieutenant's office, Janet de Rhe Philipe said: "The walkabout will depend on the weather and the timing. Things might not be decided until the day. If the walkabout does not go ahead the Queen will be driven to the town hall to sign the visitor's book.
Malmesbury town stalwart Alan Woodward, chamber of commerce chairman, who has been in business at Woodwards Jewellers, for 35 years and has been involved in the chamber for 24 years, said he was pleased to have an invitation to a lunch during the royal visit.
"I am looking forward to the occasion," said Mr Woodward.
Kevin Baldwin of Customs Transformers Ltd and Andrew Gill, partner at Forester and Forester solicitors will also be business representatives in Malmesbury.
Calne businesses will be represented by Dr John Dilley, president of Calne Chamber of Commerce, Alan Best, manager at HSBC Bank and Elick Payne, managing director of EP Financial Services.
Arju Miah, president of Chippenham Chamber of Commerce, Paul Johnson of Westinghouse Brakes and David Stubbs, partner at Dreweatt Neate will be representing the chamber.
All business representatives and members of the services and community organisations will be at the lunch reception at Malmesbury Town Hall.
