SCHOOL pupils have been learning about safety.

Pupils at Fynamore Primary School in Calne welcomed PC Dave Budd to the school to talk about road safety, personal safety and other people's safety.

The chat coincided with Halloween, bonfire night and the beginning of British wintertime.

Fynamore head teacher Carolyn Maddox said all the children had benefited from the advice given by the local police officer.

"He talked about road safety, saying no to strangers, firework safety and making sure other people were safe.

"It was very interesting and I know the students learnt a lot," said Mrs Maddox.

In the few weeks after the talk the pupils had the task of designing posters along one of the themes PC Budd had highlighted.

PC Budd returned to the school to hand out prizes to six winners. All pupils were given Wiltshire Constabulary safety badges and pencils.

"The visit and competition ran along wide a special theme week at the school entitled We Care.

"We looked at all aspects of safety and the points raised by PC Budd were very relevant to the work the school was doing," said Mrs Maddox.
