The chapel at Kingsdown Crematorium was packed for the funeral of Penhill Royal British Legion chairman Ron Montier.
Mr Montier, 69, died suddenly from a heart attack while at work. He was a stalwart of the Penhill Branch of the RBL for many years.
The Legion's Corps of Drums escorted the hearse carrying Mr Montier's coffin as it completed the final stage of its journey to the doors of the chapel.
The Last Post was played. Mr Montier was also involved with local darts leagues and had been a tireless fundraiser, most notably in support of the Chalet School, for which donations had been requested in lieu of flowers. Born in Newbury, Ron had lived most of his life in Swindon.
His widow Pat survives him.
