MRS Denton, along with all who were standing with her at the war memorial, is very welcome to join the congregation and townspeople of Chippenham at St Andrew's Parish Church when we observe the two minute's silence at 11am as we begin the Service of Remembrance (Silence was Broken, letters, November 15).
After the service the town mayor leads us to the war memorial when silence is again observed and the wreaths are laid.
The police do indeed close the road to traffic for this ceremony.
The arrangements for the annual service are made after consultation with the town council, the Royal British Legion and the other organisations officially represented.
Last year I did ask whether people might prefer a 10am start and was advised not.
