SNOOKER star Stephen Lee and Lord Bath were among the guests to celebrate the first birthday of a Trowbridge restaurant.
They joined Trowbridge mayor Jeff Osborn and other civic guests and loyal customers at the Tale of Spice Indian restaurant, in Castle Street on Monday.
A collection for the mayor's charity raised more than £300.
The money will go towards the aim of setting up a cancer unit in Trowbridge so patients can receive treatment closer to home.
Cllr Osborn said: "We are working with the Bath Cancer Unit Support Group, which does a lot of fundraising locally, and trying to get a centre for cancer treatment in Trowbridge, either at the hospital or at one of the doctors' surgeries.
"We were celebrating one year of successful trading at Tale of Spice, and when the hat went round, everyone was very generous."
