AFTER a long time of readers' letters criticising Blue Circle, I feel I must set the record straight. Firstly, would people please remember that Blue Circle, Westbury, is not just a company, it consists of 150 local people and their families. We work hard and are just as committed to keeping the environment clean in the area as everybody else.
We have proved to the Environment Agency that we can burn tyres safely, and with reductions in our emissions surely this is good for the environment and will help to reduce the number of fly-tipped tyres and tyre dump fires in the UK.
We are now looking at burning other things which might otherwise cause environmental problems and again we will be checked by the Environment Agency every inch of the way. They check our plans, our training and everything we do.
We employees put in a lot of effort to run our kiln systems with the best of dust control gear, working procedures and computer systems, and we are successful.
So why are we then faced with constant criticism? It's time some people praised what we do instead of digging for criticism.
