FOLLOWING interviews of local candidates, Warminster Lions Club is sponsoring 15-year-old Ashleigh Price for this year's Lions Clubs Youth Award Scheme.
She was singled out after her presentation about helping the 1st Warminster Brownies, and was awarded £100 towards the project.
Westbury Lions Club will sponsor Andrew Taylor, who is helping Warminster Community Radio convert a studio for disabled people.
The aims of the youth award scheme are to promote young peoples' interest in community activities, and to recognise and encourage those who are already actively involved as individuals or in groups in serving their local communities.
The two candidates will go on to the regional finals on November 30, and if successful, the district final, then the overall final at the end of February. Prizes include bursaries of up to £1,500, which the winner will be able to put towards a community project.
Digby Barker, a spokesman for Warminster Lions, said: "Alan Chapman, the district youth award officer, thinks they have a very good chance of doing well in the next stage."
