WEBSITE whizzkids from a Trowbridge school have beaten hundreds of other entries to reach the finals of a national competition.
The 15-strong team of 15 and 16 year olds from St Augustine's Catholic College have been running Infinitus, a Young Enterprise company that creates websites for local businesses and school departments.
Now the teenage tycoons are one of three finalists in the Computers for Schools category in the Tesco Our School Awards 2001.
The awards, run by the supermarket giant, recognise outstanding contributions made to school and community life.
St Augustine's headteacher, Brendan Wall, said: "They have designed the religious education and music department websites as well as contributing to the main college website with our IT manager.
"The group has designed websites for Inspection Optics and A Supplies, two local businesses.
"They work very hard and we are very proud of their efforts."
The group came top in the regional heat and found out on November 16 they had been selected as one of the three finalists.
They will travel to the London Aquarium next Thursday to discover if they are the overall winners of an internet-ready PC and computer vouchers for the college and a cash prize.
Pop group, S club 7, and Pepsi Chart Show host, DJ Dr Fox, will be among celebrity guests at the event.
Luke Hillman, 16, from the Clarendon School in Trowbridge narrowly missed reaching the final three in the Every Little Helps category for individuals.
He won the regional heat for his help in the school community, particularly the time he has devoted to supporting other students in IT work.
