A woman driver was taken to hospital with leg and chest injuries after being freed from the wreckage of her car.
Police and paramedics were called to Marsh Lane in Hilperton on Tuesday afternoon (November 20) to free the woman from her wrecked Mazda.
The victim, believed to be in her 60s and from Hilperton, was driving towards the village when her car mysteriously careered off the side of the road and into a garden wall.
Suffering a broken leg and chest injuries in the smash, the woman was rushed to the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
The lane was closed for two hours while fire crews helped clear the wreckage of the Mazda and accident investigation officers marked the scene
PC Dave Thompson, of Corsham traffic police said: "For some reason the car left the road and crashed into a wall. There were no apparent witnesses to the crash so we have no idea what really happened." Witnesses should call (01249) 716564.
