TERRITORIAL Army members in Swindon are sending out the message "come and join us."
The TA Centre in Church Place was the venue for a Bring a Mate Night on Tuesday. Ten potential new recruits went along to have a look at the capabilities of the TA on their training evening.
They had the opportunity to have a go at firing a .22 calibre rifle on the indoor range set up at the centre to see who was the best marksman.
The 28 members of Swindon TA are part of a Rifle Platoon Infantry Unit in the Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment.
As a result of the evening four people are signed up to join the TA.
"We were not expecting so many mates to come along," explained TA Second Lieutenant Marcus Dicks. "We want to try and encourage people to come along and have a go".
If you would like to have a look at what the Swindon Infantry Rifle Platoon do call Swindon 534209 between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on Tuesdays.
