MATTY HEWLETT accepts Town have a case of the November blues but is adamant there will be no long faces against Brighton tomorrow.
The former Bristol City man is the first to admit that November has been a pretty miserable month with no points secured from three games.
But with two home games to come before the calendar flips over to December, he is confident that all is not lost.
He said: "We looked at the fixture list and realised that November would be tough but we're all disappointed that we haven't picked up the points we thought we were capable of."
However, Hewlett has said that simply 'hoping' for a reversal of fortunes is not an option.
He knows that excuses only go so far and that the league table is notorious for not lying come the end of the season.
Hewlett said the cold statistics suggested Town were in a slump but the players were determined to halt that with the visit of the Seagulls.
He said: "We knew November was going to be a hard month. Stoke was never going to be easy, nor was the trip to Blackpool.
"But we still have time to turn it around. And beating the league leaders would give everyone a boost."
Hewlett, like his team mates, believes doom-mongering is very premature but said lessons had to be learned from a bleak November.
He said: "Football is a tough environment at times.
"If you just sit around and moan about how things aren't happening for you, then they won't change.
"There is no easy solution. The only way you end a losing run is through sheer hard work, trying to play in the way you believe in and sticking together as a squad.
"We've a good group of lads at this club. Losing really hurts you and we want to get that winning feeling back, hopefully starting with Brighton.
"They've started the season really well. Bobby Zamora is knocking the goals in but I think our lads can stop him.
"We now need to do a 'QPR' if you like. They got battered 4-0 by Swansea and bounced back to batter us 4-0.
"Hopefully, Brighton will feel the backlash from us.
"They are top of the league but I think anyone is capable of beating anyone else in this league.
"We're still confident but maybe we need to just have a little bit more faith in our own abilities.
"The manager plays his part but once we cross that white line it's up to us. We need to be men out there.
"Let's just hope for a few more shots on target against Brighton."
