BANNED motorist Christopher O'Donnell has been jailed for three months after twice being caught behind the wheel.
The 29-year-old was caught driving just one month after receiving a one year disqualification in March this year having been convicted of a number of motoring offences including six counts of driving without insurance.
But he failed to appear for the court hearing on May 1 and was arrested six months later, on October 23, when he was seen to overtake on the wrong side and at speed on Wootton Basset Road.
Magistrates were told former heroin addict O'Donnell had also stolen electrical goods worth £300 from his father the week before the first set of driving offences.
At a previous hearing O'Donnell, of Oakham Close, Toothill, admitted two counts of driving while disqualified, two of driving without insurance, one of theft and one of failing to surrender to court.
Martin Wiggins, defending, said his client was thoroughly ashamed of that he had stolen from his family. He told the court that O'Donnell had beaten his drug addiction and moved back with his parents but they had to sell up and move and he faced being homeless again.
Magistrates jailed him for three months. They also banned him from the road for a year.
