DANNY INVINCIBLE said it was 'frightening' how quickly Town's fortunes could change.
The 22-year-old played his part in securing a creditable 1-1 draw with Brighton, even though he failed to get on the scoresheet.
He said: "The lads are left wondering just how we can perform as we did against QPR and then put together a decent showing against Brighton.
"I think we shut them down well and can be pretty happy."
Going a goal down is nothing to smile about but Invincible confessed to having a chuckle before Bobby Zamora pounced to net a goal from nothing.
He said: "To be honest I started laughing when the goalkeeper booted the ball forward. I said to myself 'what's that?'
"Unfortunately for us the ball's bounced crazily and they've gone ahead with a lucky goal.
"But we came back and I think you could argue that we deserved all three points in the end.
"It's frightening how we can put in two totally different performances in the space of a few days."
Invincible was delighted to finally see his strike partner on the scoresheet.
He said: "Eric's not one to go round shouting about his achievement but you can tell he's very, very pleased.
"He's worked really hard for the team, suffered the disappointment of the injury and had to wait a while to get off the mark. Let's hope for a few more."
Defender Andy Gurney was happy to have played his part in keeping the Seagulls' strikers relatively quiet.
The summer signing from Reading said: "We gave away a sloppy goal which Zamora took well.
"But I thought other than that, we kept them fairly quiet.
"We fought back and I thought we could have won the match in the end."
Gurney said all the players were desperate to start putting together a decent run and start looking towards the top half of the table again.
He said: "We can't keep putting in performances like the one at QPR. Winning games at this level is not easy and you've absolutely no chance if you're giving presents away.
"But we have to take heart from matching the league leaders and they boys know we have to produce more displays and hopefully the results will come."
Town's youth team are in action tomorrow evening when they travel to Yeovil Town in the third round of the FA Youth Cup.
