I WAS one of the Commonweal School students who recently visited the Gambia (EA, November 17).

One of the activities we introduced to the younger children at the pre-school were parachute games.

We chose this activity because it enables a large group of children to play together, and we found that language was no barrier.

The children we met in the Gambia had never seen a parachute before our visit and had probably never imagined anything like it. They were fascinated and delighted by the games and just simply the colours of the parachute.

I would like to thank Home Start for lending us a parachute for the trip, but unfortunately we had to return it when we got back to England.

We would really like to send a parachute to the school so the children who have so little can continue to enjoy the new games together.

Although I attempted before the trip to find a parachute that could be donated, I was sadly unsuccessful.

I wonder if any of your readers could help either by offering a parachute or by putting me in touch with someone who could?

This would make a great gift for these children to remember us by.
