SCHOOLCHILDREN were enthralled when the latest all-girl band to hit the Brit pop scene, Tymes 4, spent the day at their school.
Taymah, Melissa, Natalie and Holly met 300 pupils from Drove School, had lunch with them, performed a concert and enjoyed a question and answer forum.
Nick Capstick the headmaster of Drove Primary, said: "The children loved it. The idea was to get professional musicians in, who the children know, see on MTV every night and be able to touch them, see them and talk to them.''
He said that the children, aged from six to 11, were encouraged in their music by meeting the singers.
"They are the next big girl band and they show the children that music is about performers and performing,'' said Nick.
Tymes 4 had a full schedule. In the morning they gave a brief concert at Churchfields School, and met pupils at the School Phobic Centre.
In the afternoon the singers, who shot to number 23 in August with Bodyrock, performed a concert for the whole school including their current single She Got Game which is released on Monday.
The singers write all their own songs.
"We always wanted to write our own material because it was important to sing from within the heart of our work,'' said Natalie. The girls appeared on Children In Need and will be the guests on BBC's the Saturday Show on December 1.
