I TOTALLY agree with the writer BW Breakspear a committed member of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (letter EA November 20) concerning his remarks about Derek Roberts and Freedom Ministries International as reported in a recent edition of the EA.

As a former resident of Swindon and a regular on-line reader of the Advertiser (and a still current member of English freemasonry under the United Grand Lodge of England UGLE) it seems to me that it is FMI that needs to see the light and get a light.

I assume FMI also disapproves of the movie Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and would denounce it because of its witchcraft and wizardry overtones resolving conflict between good and evil, thus ignoring the fact that it is a movie with soul, imparting wisdom through classic mythical themes.

One thing is certain, lightness and darkness, goodness and evil exists across the board in believers of all religions, in all ethnic groups, and even in the story's philosophers and Muggles.

In times like these any message that shows that compassion heals and that love is infinitely more powerful than hate, is a message to applaud no matter how it is packaged. Let me strongly stress that freemasonry is not and never has been a religion and has no creed. But it does have over five million members worldwide.

Under the maxim of "brotherly love, relief (ie charity) and truth" the worldwide family of regular male freemasonry has been around since before the age of enlightenment and will continue to play a positive role in regularly organised society.

Before the FMI and its spokespeople organise any more seminars they should investigate matters in more detail and much more objectively.
