THIS year sees the arrival of Radstock Fun Day, a whole day dedicated to having the most fun possible in the quaint Somerset town of Radstock.
Taking place on Saturday, December 1, Radstock Fun Day is full of events for all the family. In fact, there is so much going on that you really will be stuck for choice.
The events that form Radstock Fun Day will be taking place in and about the town centre, kicking off at 10am at Radstock Museum where local historian Mike Arlett will be signing copies of his new video, Somerset and Dorset Railways.
In between the arrival of another local history author, John Cornwall at 2pm, the museum will be playing host to Santa plus stalls and refreshments as part of the indoor Christmas market.
Opposite the museum will be a display by the Radstock Vintage Vehicle Club showing off some of the finest motors from ages past.
Then it's on to Victoria Hall where the event's main Christmas market is being held, with 15 stalls selling everything from decorations to bay trees. Entrance is free and organisers promise a round of great gift ideas for everybody's present buying needs.
If all this shopping tires you out, then Fortescue Road promises some light relief when members of the Midsomer Norton and Radstock Lions Club will be showing off their Christmas float, playing all your favourite Christmas songs.
Alongside, there will be carriages selling great food should you need to top up your energy as the day goes on.
The Methodist Hall, also on Fortescue Road, will be providing some attractive displays with a flower festival kindly arranged by green fingered members of the congregation.
While you take a look around the beautiful displays the kids have plenty of things to do in the church hall where there will be a skittle alley, face painting, bouncy castle and plenty of refreshments to keep your little ones happy.
As the dark night then draws in, the funfair comes to town, beginning at 7pm with a firework display and an appearance by Dan Norris MP. Then the fun fair will be open till late from the car park at the Victoria Hall.
Organisers say they are expecting around 2,000 for what is the first event of its kind in Radstock.
It's a perfect way to start what will undoubtedly be the busiest and most fun packed month of 2001.
