Keynsham's Christmas lights will get a sparkling switch-on this year from gold medal winner Stephanie Cook.
Stephanie, who is Olympic, World and European modern pentathlon Champion will be the guest of honour at the Keynsham Christmas evening on Friday, November 30.
She will be presenting the prizes for the Keynsham children's competition and switching on the Christmas lights outside St John's Church at about 6.30pm.
Rachel Ward, local partnerships co-ordinator for Keynsham, said: "She is one of this area's brightest stars. Her achievements at the Olympics kept many people glued to their screens last year, and she is a great role model for children and adults alike."
The Keynsham Christmas evening is set to be a fun-packed evening for all the family.
The High Street and the bottom of Charlton Road will be closed from 4.30pm, and children's fairground rides and some street entertainment will start from 5pm. The main programme of entertainment starts outside St John's Church at 6pm with dancing in the streets by pupils from Broadlands School, carol-singing accompanied by Keynsham Brass Band and performances from street entertainers.
Shops will be open until 7.30pm, and there will be festive food available.
There will be an appearance from Father Christmas and throughout the evening two of his elves will be out and about checking whether you have been naughty or nice.
Everyone is invited to come in fancy dress during the evening roving judges will be picking out winners who will be presented with their prizes at 7.30pm.
