A MULTIPLE gold medal winning paralympian helped Swindon to celebrate the International Day of Disabled People.
Jo Jackson, 29, a star of the British Paralympic equestrian team, opened the day of celebration at the Haydon Centre in Haydon Wick.
She was joined at the ceremony by Swindon Mayor David Cox. The Day was organised by Wiltshire Law Centre, Swindon Coalition of Disabled People, Wiltshire and Swindon Users Network and Working for Opportunities.
Coalition development worker, Steve Milner, said: "We wanted to bring everything together under one roof things like information groups, equipment suppliers and support organisations.
"Everything went very well, with about 50 organisations represented."
Sport was heavily featured, including demonstrations by the Delta Tennis Centre short tennis group and the Swindon Kings wheelchair basketball team.
The International Day of Disabled People is Monday, December 3, and the event at the Haydon Centre was staged to publicise it.
