ROY EVANS was happy enough with the three points which ended Town's five match run without a win.
The director of football was particularly pleased to see both his strikers on target against Wrexham.
He said: "We needed the three points and got them.
"Eric (Sabin) got us off to a decent start, which was important. As he gets sharper he will become more of a threat.
"He is a handful because he's got great pace. Eric also set up a couple of chances for others and should have got us a penalty."
Evans was extremely pleased with the team play that created the second goal for Danny Invincible.
He said: "It was a great bit of movement which saw Danny on the end of it. It's always nice when your two strikers score and it gave us a cushion."
Evans admitted he 'hadn't a clue' how Wrexham's goal had crept in but felt Town should have defended it better.
"It was a ball with pace, it's put them back in the game but fortunately Matt Heywood has quickly restored the two-goal lead."
Evans felt Town dropped too deep in the second half and had allowed Wrexham too much of the ball.
He said: "They did cause us some problems, but mostly from long range. And maybe we could have done better when we broke."
For some weeks the Town players had been talking about winning their 'game in hand' to boost the league position.
But Evans said points on the board was all that mattered.
He said: "You have to get the three points on offer and thankfully we did that."
Striker Eric Sabin was delighted to be on target again.
He said: "We started well and I was very happy to score again.
"The first goal against Brighton was important but I was confident that there would be more goals.
"I think my anticipation is games is getting better."
Goal number two was netted by Aussie forward Danny Invincible.
The 22-year-old's fifth of the season gave Town an important two-goal cushion.
He said: "It was one of those that I usually shank over the bar. But seriously, it was great to get another goal.
"We really had to win this game, it was our chance to pull a bit further away from the wrong end of the table and it was crucial that we didn't blow it."
Central defenderMatt Heywood was on target for the second time in four matches.
He said: "I keep saying that my goals come in twos and threes.
"I got in a header, the ball's rebounded off somebody and come back to me. Fortunately I was able to stick it in the net.
"Winning against Wrexham was very important. We didn't want to get sucked into trouble and the victory has pushed up the league a bit."
