COLLINGBOURNE cricket club celebrated a successful 2001 season at their recent presentation dinner and dance evening.
The first team registered 13 wins out of 14 matches to clinch the Wiltshire League Division Three title in the summer, while the seconds narrowly missed out on promotion to Division Seven.
Presentations were made by club president Richard May and award winners were: 1st XI batting: Tom Edmunds; 1st XI bowling: Barry Langfield; 2nd XI batting: Edward Oldrey; 2nd XI bowling, Wednesday bowling, single wicket champion: Ben Docherty; Sunday batting: Robert Franklin; Sunday bowling: Paul Isherwood; Wednesday batting, outstanding fielder: Aaron Taylor; most improved young player: Owen Dowsett; Clubman of the year: Graham Chandler.
Colts' awards: under 11 batting: Tom Grant; under 11 bowling: Charlie Knight; under 11 clubman: Oliver Scott; under 13 batting: James Grant; under 13 bowling: Chris Franklin; under 13 clubman, most improved colt: Ian Kiy; under 15 batting: Richard Kimber; under 15 bowling: Tom Pike; under 15 clubman: Tom Glastonbury.
Collingbourne have two teams competing in the Savernake Indoor League during the winter and are looking to recruit new players for the 2002 season.
