Chippenham Sunday League: George Lacock were the highest scorers in the First Division as they destroyed North Star A.

Lacock scored eight goals, but could easily have doubled the score had they taken their chances.

The understrength Calne side fell behind after only two minutes through Martin Symcox, who fired home from 12 yards. North Star had a chance to level the score on 10 minutes after Pete Thornton, pounced on a mix-up in Lacock's defence, but with the goal at his mercy the striker could only find the goalkeeper.

North Star lost Nick Fielding in the 20th minute when he limped out of the action with a broken toe. North Star were finally finding away back into the game and a period of pressure was almost rewarded in the 33rd minute, but Nick Edwards' effort was cleared off the line by Roger Gordon.

Lacock produced the classic counter attack as they broke away and made it 2-0 when Symcox finished off a team move from close range.

Within a minute Symcox completed his hat-trick after a series of errors in the Star defence.

In the 37th minute Star goalkeeper Paul Warren made a complete hash of collecting a cross, dropping it at the feet of Andy Joad, who slotted it into the empty net to make it 4-0. Lacock were 5-0 in front on 43 minutes after match referee Timmy Burke played an excellent advantage which led to Symcox crossing for Joad to crash home his second. Symcox walked in number six on the stroke of half-time to take his personal tally to four.

Joad hit the post before completing his hat-trick on the hour with a cool finish that saw him find the top corner from 10 yards out.

Five minutes later Star's injury crisis worsened when Mike Clark hobbled off injured.

Lacock's eighth came 15 minutes from time when substitute Darren Selman turned and fired home with his first touch after goalkeeper Warren had spilled Symcox's cross.
