MARLBOROUGH Town Reserves ended Swindon Eagles' 100 per cent record in the Junior Division when they held the long-time leaders to a 1-1 draw at South Marston.

It was a case of unlucky 13 for the Eagles, who had won all their 12 previous games.

Manager Mark Herring said: "All good things come to an end. It's been a brilliant run but we are still unbeaten though and are still in a couple of cups. I thought the young Marlborough side played well and deserved their point."

Terry Herring put the Eagles in front after five minutes with Jonathan Maslin equalising for Marlborough in the second half.

Wroughton Reserves took advantage of the slip-up to go top after beating visitors Wanborough United Reserves 10-1. Richard Perratt scored five, with Brian Phillips, Paul Jardine, Paul Rideout, Tom Dingle and Paul Bowden also getting their names on the scorescheet.

Third in the table Wootton Bassett United kept the leaders in their sights with a 3-1 home win over Purton A. Gary Loveday, Danny Groom and Brett Reynolds were on target for United, and Mark Giles for Purton.

Aldbourne Reserves gained a useful three points in a 1-0 away win over Dunbar Westside, Matthew Fryer scoring, and West Swindon did well to draw two goals apiece at Bromham. Jerry Thompson and Richard Witts netted for the home side and Mike Elsby and Adam Rumbold for the Swindon side.

Ferndale Rodbourne gained a 5-2 success over Minety. Stuart Marriott (2) Richard Hayne, Terry Bown and Ben Dickens were on target for the home side and Richard Ponting and Graham Smedley for Minety.

Intermediate Division leaders Blunsdon United beat Down Ampney 4-0.

Second in the table Stratton Crosslink Reserves also won 4-0 at Wanborough. The home side lost their goalkeeper in the first half and had another player sent off soon after the restart.

The nine players put up a gallant fight and drew praise from the Crosslink officials after the game.

Steve Townsend (2) Micky Turner and Richard Lawrence netted for Crosslink.

Zarlink produced yet another 4-0 scoreline against visitors Sherston. Christian Bailey scored a hat-trick with Mark Connolly netting a fourth.

Castrol gained a 2-0 away win at Calne Town Reserves, Brendon Graham netting on his last appearance at the club before emigrating to Spain. Nick Campden scored the other.

In a close-fought game at Ashton Keynes the home side ran out winners 2-1, Barry Williams and Steve Willie on target for Ashton.

Premier Division leaders Shrewton United were involved in the Addkey Senior Cup, leaving the way clear for the chasing pack to peg back United's 14 points lead.

However, second in the table Devizes Town Reserves were beaten at home by Wroughton 5-2, but third place Trowbridge narrowed the lead to 11 points after beating Biddestone 2-1.

At Devizes, Wroughton's top marksman Glenn Armstrong, who has been attracting a few Nationwide league scouts, opened the scoring after just a couple of minutes. Sean Clarke added a second to give Wroughton a 2-0 lead at the break.

In the second half Armstrong completed his hat-trick and Stuart Morse scored with a near post header. Spencer Wilmot and Scott Sartin pulled a couple of goals back.

In a fairly even game at Biddestone, Steve Healey got the home side off to a good start, netting after just five minutes. Trowbridge fought back and equalised midway through the half, Gordon Saunderson completing a superb move by chipping the Biddestone keeper.

Jerad O'Pray pulled the ball back from the by-line for substitute Mike Little to snatch the winner for the visitors.

Bradford Town continued their recent good run with a 3-1 away win over Cricklade Town, Steve Roddy and Robbie Simmonds giving them an early two-goal lead. Martin Swaddon pulled a goal back for Cricklade after the break but Charlie Powell added a third for Bradford.

Westbury United Reserves picked up a useful three points at Purton, beating the home side 3-0. Stuart Barner (2) and Nick Wilkins did the damage.

A below-par Marlborough Town side were beaten 2-1 at home by Malmesbury Vics Reserves.

Paul Wheeler gave the Vics the lead from the spot with Richard Jackson replying for the home side. With ten minutes remaining player- manager Pete Brock was on hand to score the winner for the Vics to give them a much needed three points.

Stratton Crosslink gained a 4-0 success over Pewsey Vale Reserves, Jerry Wright netting two penalties in the first half. Wright completed his hat-trick ten minutes after the restart and in the best move of the match a low cross was converted with a diving header from Robbie Broadbank.
