COUNCIL bosses have set up a window display in a bid to improve consultation with people in Devizes.
Kennet District Council plans to show items of local interest and will change the display regularlyat the Crown Centre in St John's Street.
Currently included is an update of the work to be carried out in the Market Place, details of the Devizes Christmas fair tomorrow, an explanation of the council's communications strategy and a a map of the Devizes community area.
In addition there is information about plans to put up new signs to welcome visitors into Devizes, and ideas about what projects could form part of a long term action plan to rejuvenate Devizes.
Ron Crook, director of community services at Kennet District Council, said: "The Window on Devizes is trying to make a start on this business of communication.
"We want to try and find ways of getting information over to the public and we thought a good way of doing that was by using a shop window.
"It's an idea that has been in our minds for some time and this particular location came up and it presented itself as a golden opportunity."
Next year there will be an officer who will be based in the Crown Centre dealing solely with the Local Plan public inquiry where members of the public can go in and find out details about the inquiry.
Anyone who wants more information about the items on display in the shop window should call Diana Ralls, the council's public relations officer, on 01380 724911. E-mails can be sent to diana.ralls@kennet.gov.uk
