A GROUP which discusses transport issues raised £1,000 for two good causes in Swindon.

Members of the town's Institute of Transport Administration group raised the money when it staged a national conference at Blunsdon House Hotel in October.

It will be jointly shared between the MS Society, Swindon, and Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool in Jefferies Avenue.

IOTA Swindon secretary Colin Harl-ing said: "The conference involved 130 people and included a raffle of 28 prizes including a divan bed, weekend break for two and clock radio. There was also the auction of a stereo system which raised £205."

Just under 100 people comprise the IOTA Swindon group, the youngest aged 16.

Members meet regularly to discuss transport issues relating to road, air, rail and sea.
