ONCE again we would like to thank all those who took part in the events of One World Week in Calne and those who came along to support them.
The week began with street theatre in the town centre, put on by the Calne Players. Later, year seven of John Bentley School gave us a performance of music, dance and drama to illustrate this year's theme, One World We're on our Way.
Primary school children took part in a service at St Mary's Church and throughout the week special assemblies and other activities were held at several of our schools.
One evening we were transported to Tanzania, Malawi and the Gambia, by Ruth Evans, Harry Lewis and Tom Skitt and on another enjoyed dance and music provided by pupils of the Lindsay Howard Academy of Dance and by three of Penelope Price-Jones' students.
Winners and runners up in the poetry competition also read their poems to us. In the children's section the winners were Samuel Spense, Alexandra Jenkinson and Sara Love, runners-up were Georgine Hodsdon, Bryony Rosier, Camilla Hempleman-Adams, Caroline Dray and Celia McCluskie. The winner of the adults section was Gillian Minter.
Also that evening the bells of St Mary's Church rang out for One World Week.
Again, our thanks to all those who took part, helped with publicity, led us in worship, entertained us and informed us, provided and served refreshments, provided a photographic record and came along and supported events. We hope you enjoyed the week and that it gave you a moment to reflect.
