A VILLAGE pantomime saved by an appeal in the Wiltshire Times finished its sell-out run this week.

Footlights drama group hold a pantomime in Broughton Gifford village hall every year, but were facing a dilemma after appeals to find musicians failed earlier this year.

But thanks to an appeal in the Wiltshire Times the group were inundated with applicants and found two talented musicians to save the day.

George Ward School pupil Joe Piercy, 13, and Broughton Gifford musician Glyn Jones responded to the group's plight and starred in the four pantomime performances, which finished on Saturday.

Caroline Wilkinson, producer, said the group's performances of Aladdin went down a storm in the village.

She said: "The musicians were fantastic. We are very grateful they were found.

"We nearly had to cancel the show which would have been quite upsetting.

"The show was sold out nearly every night and we hope to use these musicians for performances in the future.

"I haven't had this problem before but the musicians we use are often at school and move away after a while."
