A DEPRESSED man caused a security alert when he tried to jump off the town bridge in Melksham.
Police were called to the bridge on Sunday evening (November 25) after receiving reports of a man dangling over the edge.
Officers talked to the depressed man, who is believed to be in his 30s from Bath, and convinced him to climb off the bridge.
The man was visiting his mother in Melksham. Inspector Neil Bagnall of Melksham police said officers found the man sitting on the bridge.
"He had his legs dangling off the side and officers attempted to talk to him.
"He came down of his own accord."
