ON reading in last week's Wiltshire Times, November 23, soccer players held a two-minute silence I was dismayed to see that respect was given by a football team on Remembrance Day at 10.45am and a match was then played through the two-minute silence at 11am.
What gave this team the right to change the time to suit themselves? Call that respect, I call that selfish.
I lost my father during the Second World War. The pain is always with me. I find it hard to understand when people cannot be bothered to stand silent at 11am on Remembrance Day and disgusted to see that people think it's OK to cause noise over this time. As for the part on playing through 11am on ground paid for by donations to commemorate the home-coming of our troops, well, I think that speaks for itself. I suggest you review this situation for future years, James Patrick.
