THOSE people in Wiltshire deciding to treat themselves to a new set of Christmas lights this year can rest easy.
Trading Standards officers have found that Wiltshire is one of the safest places in the country to buy them.
Steve Clover, trading standards manager, said: "Lights in other parts of the country have caused serious concerns, and we are pleased that this was not the case in Wiltshire."
Officers tested 28 sets of lights, none of which were found to be dangerous.
Mr Clover said that people should still follow basic guidelines when buying lights check for the British Standard kite mark, don't buy lights in a damaged box and follow the instructions.
