NEVER one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I welcome the mobile air monitoring station based in Bratton for the next few months.
However, those who watch wind directions will notice emissions from the chimney were often in the opposite direction during these winter months. You can see the Environment Agency will say how good the monitored readings are. Meanwhile, the people of Dilton Marsh will be suffering the fall-out from this chimney. I strongly suggest these villages and towns who have the winds in their direction from the Westbury chimney phone Colin Babb of the Environment Agency on (01278) 457333 and get the mobile monitoring station located in their vicinity when appropriate.
Remember the potential for fall-out is five-seven miles for every 100ft of industrial chimney. Westbury's is nearly 300ft tall.
Don't let them get away with these failures to do a proper job, as happened during the tyre-burning trial when the agency ignored all the independent data that didn't agree with them.
