St John's Catholic Primary School, Trowbridge, has received £500 from Wessex Water to help pay for a wildlife garden.
The conservation award is part of a scheme which provides funds for environmental schemes in the Wessex Water area.
In 1999 the school purchased an unused piece of land from Wiltshire County Council and immediately started raising funds for a wildlife garden.
The garden will have a pond surrounded by a bog and a dipping and kneeling platform for closer observation of the pond's residents.
It is hoped the garden, which will incorporate an outdoor classroom, will increase the children's awareness of the role they can play in protecting the environment.
Deputy headteacher Mrs Morgan said: "This Wessex Watermark Award is a great boost to the school and has enabled us to plant up the pond area. We are delighted."
