THE parents of a one-month old baby who died tragically last week have paid tribute to their son.
Baby Joshua Neil Baker was taken to hospital after his parents, John Baker, 18, and Carrie Hannaford, 17, noticed he was not breathing when they went to his cot at 6am on Sunday November 18.
Grandparents Ian and Caroline Baker were alerted and Joshua was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath by ambulance, but doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Police attended the scene and confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding Joshua's death.
Joshua, of Westfield Close, Trowbridge, was born a week early and had been diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat and was due to see a specialist just days after his death.
His funeral was held at the West Wiltshire Crematorium at Semington on Friday.
Mr Baker said he and Miss Hannaford were still devastated by their loss but were "getting there" thanks to the support of their parents.
In a handwritten note brought to the Wiltshire Times by Mr Baker, the couple expressed their love for the baby they knew for such a short time:
Joshua Neil Baker
Arrived October 21, 2001, departed November 18, 2001.
You'll always be in our thoughts.
We just wish that it didn't have to be this way...
The four weeks we had together were great. If only it were longer...
It seemed you were here for so long, yet your stay in this world was so short...
Keep shining, our bright little star.
All our love,
Daddy and Mummy
