AIRSPRUNG Beds has hit back at claims that the company is in trouble, insisting the company is recruiting more production staff.
Andrew Alsop, group financial director at the Trowbridge-based company, said: "We are very busy at the moment and we are actively recruiting."
He confirmed that part of the felt-producing arm of the business, Fitex, had been closed down and said that this was due to internal re-organisation.
Three management-level redundancies were announced at the company at the end of last week; two were made in connection with Fitex, which is based in Canal Road.
Mr Alsop said: "That was due to reorganisation and was just three people out of a workforce of over 1,000."
Most of the other workers from Fitex have left voluntarily.
A spokesman for the Transport and General Workers Union said last week that Airsprung was being forced to reorganise due to orders dropping off, which the company denies.
