CHILDREN had the chance not only to learn about wild birds but also how to feed them during the winter at a recent family bird bonanza organised by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in Marlborough.
It was one of a series of wildlife roadshows supported by Kennet District Council.
Afternoon activities at St Mary's Church Hall included ways of attracting birds into gardens, including making bird feeders from recycled materials, and there was a variety of bird-related games.
Tania Crockett, from Wiltshire Wildlife Trust said: "In winter, birds often have trouble finding enough to eat because their natural food source is hard to find.
"We can help them in a number of ways, including providing food and water, and by making our gardens bird-friendly.
"Even in the smallest garden, we can attract many different species. It doesn't cost much and the birds will soon become regular visitors, brightening our lives."
