THE combined side avenged last season's heavy defeat with a deserved victory over their Wiltshire rivals.
The superior technique of the smaller combined team's pack saw some great driving rucks develop an opening after 10 minutes from which a five-metre scrum was awarded. Number eight Luke Foster scored from the resulting clean ball.
A period of sustained pressure from Swindon resulted in the equalising try before half-time following a speculative kick ahead that was not cleared by the combined defence.
The second half began with the combined pack winning better ball in the scrum and line-out. Their pressure on the Swindon defence resulted in a clearance kick being run back for a try after a magnificent weaving run from full back Dan Plaxton. Scott Simmons landed the conversion to give his side a five-point lead.
From the kick-off, clean ball was worked wide to centre David Finlay, who sprinted clear of a flat defence to score a further try.
